I am a photographer and videographer who uses my camera to amplify social and cultural narratives, sharing stories of strength, resilience, and hope. A 15,000-mile solo bicycle expedition through China, Tibet, and Central Asia became the foundation for my photojournalism career.
From 2008 to 2020, I was based in China, focusing primarily on the lives of the Tibetan and Uyghur peoples. That dedication led to total immersion: language learning, cultural understanding, and relationships that remain strong today. I continue this work among communities in the United States and Asia, alongside other human interest and environmental stories.
Currently, I am developing a personal body of work that began as a reportage project about my father's dementia, caused by lifelong alcohol abuse. Growing up working-class in Appalachia, I learned early to hide family truths, among them physical abuse and neglect. The project has deepened into a story of memory, identity, and coming to terms with a personal history. It has allowed me to understand my role as a witness, a role handed to me long before a camera was ever in my hand.
This year, I attended the New York Times Portfolio Review and began a two-year mentorship with Ed Kashi and James Estrin. Based between Bend, Oregon, and Seattle, Washington, with extended time in the Himalayas, I am available for assignments, particularly those focused on China and Central Asia.

When I am not behind a camera, I am writing about cycling and travel around Central Asia. Or riding bikes, with the occasional ultra race.
